Mathis Fire
(as of 10 p.m. July 9)

Start Date:  July 6, 2007 at 1500

Location: 3 miles north of Kenilworth, UT

Cause: Lightning

Size: 1300+ acres

Contained: 10%

Estimated Containment: Undetermined

Fuels: Sage brush, grass, pinyon, juniper and mixed conifer

Structures Threatened: None at this time. Milburn Mine is on alert due to Smoke Issues

Evacuations: None at this time.

Resources: 6 crews, 4 helicopters, 10 engines, 2 dozers and 249 personnel. Rich Harvey's Type II Management Team took over the fire on Monday.

Other: Fire is burning on BLM and State lands.

Closures: 
Public access to the area surrounding the fire is restricted for public safety and to provide for firefighter access.  The Emma Park Road is closed to Nine Mile Canyon and the Whitmore Park Road to Emma Park Road is also closed.  The Price to Kenilworth Road remains open; however, travel on the Ronco Road and into Cordingly Canyon is restricted north of Kenilworth.  The public is urged to avoid the area.
