Color Country Success Story - July 2013
On Tuesday, July 2, the lightning caused Black Mountain Fire generated a large smoke column north of Cedar City and south of Minersville, Utah. The fire moving primarily south, made significant runs through the rolling hills of Iron and Beaver Counties until it came in contact with the Maple Springs fire rehabilitation reseeding from 2002.

Ray Mesa is home to some of the last old growth ponderosa pine stands within the Moab Field Office. On May 2-3, 2013 BLM wildland fire personnel from Moab, Price, Richfield, and Vernal conducted a controlled underburn within 216 acres of ponderosa pine stands.
